Announcements: M³C for the win at the 2019 Accenture Rising Star Awards

Johannesburg, South Africa - M³C's founder, Thomas Mofolo, is the winner of the 2019 Accenture Rising Star Award in the media and advertising category. The ceremony was hosted on the 1st of August 2019 at the Hilton Hotel in Sandton, Johannesburg, and represents a milestone achievement in the lab's evolution and journey. Congrats to all the other nominees and winners as well. The level of excellence among young talent in South Africa is nothing short of phenomenal.


A big thank you to the Ruban Talent Agency for the nomination and to the stellar panel of judges; Kele Boakgomo the Head of Innovation services at Accenture in South Africa, Nicola Tager, the Global Head of Careers at Investec, Sedick Isaacs, Head: Business Support Service at Bryte Insurance and Lisa Andrews, the area Head of Talent Southern Africa at British American Tobacco - Thank you for the vote of confidence and motivation.



The Rising Star Programme, operated by Black Bark Productions, has been established for the purposes of recognising, celebrating and connecting young talented people who have a capacity for achievement and success and who contribute in an inspirational manner to the future of our nation. The qualities that elevate Rising Stars to the top go beyond performance and technical excellence. Rising Stars are polished, brilliant individuals with tremendous promise and great talent who excel for reasons that go far beyond their technical abilities alone.

About the Accenture Rising Star Awards:


The 8th annual Accenture Rising Star Awards were produced by Black Bark Productions on behalf of the Rising Star Programme and sponsored by Accenture South Africa. The programme recognises the top 5 young South Africans between 28 and 40 years of age across various industries. Now in its 8th year, the programme has created a network of 500 professionals and consists of an awards programme, a summit and an annual publication.


About M³C:


M³C (Making Media Move Culture ©) is a digital communications media lab, and a formula for improving the future with stories, and tools rooted in social change and sense making. Founded by Thomas Mofolo in 2016, the lab specialises in project managing digital outreach & advocacy campaigns, Communication for Development (C4D), civic journalism, reparative media, and social innovation.


The lab operates remotely on a fixed-term consultancy basis in collaboration with a network of independent consultants, non-profits, civil society organisations, social movements, activists, and freelance creative talent. Additionally, the lab also doubles as a think tank that produces research related to critical social media pedagogy, and futures literacy for civic transformation.
